The Mansfield Shire is located 180km north east of Melbourne and is a renowned tourism, farming and lifestyle precinct.

The Mansfield Shire enjoys approximately 1.2 million visitors per annum, which generates approximately $134 million in revenue. Employment generated by tourism within the Shire ranges from 1,500 year round to 4,500 on a seasonal basis.

 

The Shire is renowned for its natural beauty and alpine mountains. Significant landscape features include Mount Buller, Mount Stirling and the Great Dividing Range. Natural environment features include parts of Lake Eildon and Alpine National Parks.

 

In 2008 the Mansfield Courier received the Victorian Country Press Association Award for Journalism for the third consecutive year. It also received the award for Best Use of Colour, and the Overall Newspaper Excellence in the under 3,000 circulation category The paper was also highly commended for its coverage of the north-south pipeline issue.

 

In September 2008 the Mansfield Courier acquired the High Country Times. This publication is now incorporated within the Mansfield Courier.
