Less than two hours from Melbourne along the Hume Highway, Euroa is ideally located for access to the major attractions of the Strathbogie ranges abd the Nagambie Lakes district. Farming industries have traditionally been sheep, cattle, and wheat cropping, but in recent years the tendency has been to diversify into smaller holdings specialising in more unusual jstock as cashmere goats, emus, deer, fine wool sheep and fish, or crops such as herbs, blueberries, grapes, nuts and cherries. Strathbogie Shire has a population of 9,000, with roughly a third being in Euroa itself.
