Profile
Echuca, with a population of approximately 12,000 people is situated on the mighty Murray River just 210km from melbourne. Echuca shares the border with its NSW twin town, Moama, which has a population of approximately 4,000. Moama is one of the fastest growing towns in NSW. Echuca/Moama is the icon of one of the most vibrant tourist regions, with over $226 million generated by tourism each year.  Decentralisation has played a large part in the population increase of the border towns. Nestle, Simplot and Cedenco have all established food manufacturing operations in Echuca and 2000 will see the establishment by Heinz Watties of a Centre of Excellence for it's Baby Foods division. Manchester Tanks has also established a $10 million LP gas equipment factory. The rural primary production consists of dairy, wheat, sheep and other smaller industries. The central business area services a community of approximately 20,000 people.
