Profile
Maryborough is 170 km from Melbourne, between Ballarat and Bendigo. It is an old gold town, which survived and grew into a provincial city due to its manufacturing industries. Maryborough produces more paperback books than any other city in Australia from two large book printers,  and has substantial engineering and confectionery manufacturing operations also established. The city population is just over 7,300, but serves a total catchment of more than 18,000 people. Within that catchment is the Pyrenees wine growing region and gold mining industry.
