Profile
Cohuna is situated on the Gunbower Creek in the Murray Valley and has a population of some 2,200. The eastern irrigated portion of the Shire of Gannawarra is one of the richest irrigated farming areas of Victoria with an intense dairying industry supplying milk to the large Kraft factory at Leitchville and the Murray Goulburn plant at Rochester. Pig raising, beef cattle, lucerne and summer grains are other important sources of farm income. One of the largest stock feed factories in Victoria supplies a large range of products for the national market. The nearby Gunbower State Forest supports a large sawmilling industry and is also a tourist attraction.
