Profile
Perched on the Great Dividing Range, Crow’s Nest Shire stretches 100 kms along the New England Highway just north of Toowoomba in south-east Queensland. It is a vibrant tourist region just two hours drive from Brisbane. Population of the shire is almost 10,000. The mountain ranges offer spectacular views to the coast, west to the rich and rolling country of the darling Downs and north to the Bunya Mountains. The area abounds in nurseries and orchards producing avocados, persimmons, kiwi fruit, olives, essential oils, flowers, vegetables and fruit, local art and craft shops, antique stores, museums, art galleries, coffee shops and golf courses. For the outdoors enthusiast, three dams in the shire, Cressbrook, Cooby and Perseverance, provide fishing, boating and watersports. The shire has a thriving rural industry and is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.
